CBDs are not regulated or evaluated by the FDA or any government agency. It's not possible to ensure CBDs are pure. The FDA has tested several CBD products over the past few years and discovered THC. Some are suspected of containing unsafe toxins like pesticides and heavy metals. Some may contain harmful impurities like pesticides and bacteria.

There is no evidence for health benefits of CBDs, with the exception of two severe and rare forms of childhood epilepsy (Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome), for which there is one FDA-approved CBD product, Epidiolex. Aside from this, there are no FDA approved CBD products, including cosmetics, foods, dietary supplements, and pet products.

The FDA has warned companies to stop selling CBD products that claim to cure diseases.

Health risks include harmful interactions with other drugs, nausea, fatigue, and irritability.

Kaiser doesn't recommend using CBD products due to lack of evidence about the health benefits and to potential health risks.
