EPIDIOLEX® (CBD) cases liver damage, suicidal thoughts, and somnolence, according to official drug warnings and precautions

FDA-approved EPIDIOLEX® (generic cannabidiol or CBD) is known to cause:

  • Liver damage (hepatic injury)

  • Somnolence and sedation

  • Suicidal behavior and ideation


Signs and symptoms of liver problems include:

  • loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting

  • fever, feeling unwell, unusual tiredness

  • yellowing of the skin or the whites of the eyes (jaundice)

  • itching

  • unusual darkening of the urine

  • right upper stomach area pain or discomfort


Patients are advised "not to drive or operate machinery until they have gained sufficient experience on EPIDIOLEX."
